Sean Flanagan from Nashville will be at the 2024 Vail Comedy Festival

Sean Flanagan

From Tokyo to Tennessee, Sean Flanagan makes crowds laugh with his wry take on coming out late in life, being a gay military spouse, and a fish out of water at home and abroad.

After completing a standup course at the world-famous Comedy Cellar, and the improv classes at Upright Citizensโ€™ Brigade โ€” Sean began to take NYC comedy by storm. Sean could be seen at Broadway Comedy Club, on shows like Gaylarious, and at midday mics across the city when sneaking out from his day job.

In addition to shirking his duties at various tech companies, he could be found moonlighting on The Ride. The Ride was a 75-minute improv and scripted comedic bus tour which brought the city to life for 50 passenger on its unique sideways-facing buses.

From 2021 to 2023, to support his husband’s career, he moved to Tokyo where he helped open Tokyo Comedy Bar and was a regular headliner there and at US military bases around the country.

Now Sean is back in the US, based out of Nashville. Most recently, he won the nationwide Best Medicine Brigade’s standup competition.
